Heroes choose to be heroes. Being forced to be a hero makes you a human shield.

And Alicia Keys wrote her a song. She’ll play it tomorrow on CNN. It’s literally called “Good Job”. Lmfao. This is like a sarcastic roasting of the working class.

Before pandemic: “$15/hour for a burger flipper? Get a real job!”

During pandemic: “They are heroes”

After pandemic: “$15/hour for a burger flipper? Get a real job!”

And the politicians will take credit

The 20th century was the time when propaganda really took off.  Numerous governments, lead by the fascists in the first half of the 20th century, learned to use slogans, phrases, movies, and manipulate news to push their agenda.  And from that century came one of the most powerful tools of propaganda ever created: “Thank you for your service”

Hello everyone, I know this is the worst timing but my cat Bodhi became very sick last week with and infection and it was discovered by the vet that he requires dental surgery to remove possibly 4 molars, which will cost about 1200$. I set the fundraiser at 2500$ to help cover the vet costs from before and for his follow up appointments after and in case they discover he needs more teeth removed. Currently he’s on medication to control the infection that knocked him on his ass last week. It’s also possible that he is asthmatic, which will require bloodwork and an xray, possibly ct scan, all of which is expensive. In addition to that, my other cat Ande has had back to back urinary tract infections and I have taken in a 19yr old cat, Angel, who requires special food and accommodations. Angel was my mom’s cat and she’s moving and unable to take her with her, so rather than see her euthanized I’m going to try taking care of her.

So that’s all the reasons for this fundraiser. Now let me tell you about Bodhi.

Bodhi is my heart and soul. We’ve been deeply bonded and inseparable since we met, he is also my emotional support animal. He has saved my life many times over.

I met Bodhi about 9 years ago during what was at the time the worst time of my life. I was volunteering at a humane society in Potsdam and went in to look at their kittens one day looking to adopt a black kitten. They didn’t have any, just Bodhi who is a black and white cat and he was sleeping in a kitten pile with his siblings so I didn’t want to disturb them. However, as I turned to leave the cage area his head popped up and he stood up on top of his siblings to move closer, the staff worker picked him up, handed him to me and he nuzzled right into my neck. He then refused to let go when I went to hand him back, dug his claws right into my skin, I hadn’t actually intended to get a kitten that day because I didn’t have the money at the moment, but he refused to let go and I couldn’t say no. Worked out the finances got permission from my landlord and took him home that day.

Bodhi was a very active kitten and he did not like to sleep whatsoever, I worked 3 jobs at the time plus volunteer work and I was very sleep deprived. One day desperate to get some sleep Bodhi was determined not to let me have I decided to try taking him for a drive, because it works for human kids so why not, and it amazingly worked. He settled in my lap (bad i know but he screamed in a crate at the time) and went right to sleep. After that whenever he was restless and wouldn’t settle no matter what I did, we would go for long drives.

As a kitten Bodhi had been very sick, he and his siblings had been dumped in a cardboard box on the side of the road, found by a passerby and taken to the humane society, they were all close to dead and I think one or 2 had passed away. By the time I got him he was mostly healthy, just needed to finish out some daily medications. He stayed mostly healthy until recently.

When I first became disabled 7ish years ago and was literally unable to leave my bedroom those first 2 years, Bodhi and Kodi (my old husky) were all I had, they were my only friends and my only comfort. We spent many hours together on my bed watching whatever seemed interesting. I can freely admit that many many times when my thoughts would get dark and my depression deep, they were the only things I felt were worth living for.

I will do whatever I can to keep Bodhi healthy, because he’s done that for me.

venmo and cashapp also available to donate to if you don’t want to donate to this fundraiser cause they take money:

I know the timing sucks and no one has much to give, but I’m disabled, immunocompromised and have no idea if i’ll be getting a stimulus check. So please, every little bit helps even if that’s just sharing. I tried sending it around to fb but have not had much luck. I’m still paying off vet bills from the mama cat and kittens I rescued last year, plus two of my other cats have recurring UTI problems.

I’ve looked into all of the veterinarian bills assistance things out there like shamrock animal fund, red rover etc but I don’t qualify for any of them because I wasn’t denied for care credit and because dental procedures aren’t covered by a lot of the grants.

My only income is disability payments which are barely enough to cover necessities. I received a bill this month for 4,500$ from the dr for a simple IUD replacement which turned out not to be covered by medicare and the dr’s office refuses to change the code so it could be covered. So I can’t afford his surgery without help.

Chris Ramsell on Vashon Island, Washington wrote us to ask that we share the cabin his Aunt Mary built in a 1960’s. We’re glad to have a peek at it because that transom along the dramatic gable is unusual and charming. 🥰

Sadly she passed away a few years ago. We would have enjoyed a chance to discuss with her the whimsical home she made for herself.

Thanks for sharing, Chris.
